Hello
When people get talking about Christianity, they often talk about what the rules are. We Christians seem to have something of an obsession with rules.
This is odd, because Jesus said there were only two rules, love God and love others.
“‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the greatest and first commandment. And a second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.” (Matthew 22:37-40)
Jesus just wants his followers to love.
Take a moment to think about someone you love or have loved in the past. Someone you trusted and who trusted you. Think about that love you had for each other. Now, what were the rules? Did you work out a set of agreed rules that would govern your relationship? If you did, I would suggest there was something very wrong with your love relationship. In a truly loving relationship, there is no need for rules. There is just love. It’s the same in our love for our loving heavenly Father. He loves us and we, his trusting children, love him.
May our loving Father walk with us along the path he has prepared for us, loving him and loving others.
Jesus is Lord!
Peter O
