Church

I’ve had visions about churches. (Seriously, I have).

Hello

I grew up in a conservative evangelical church.  Probably because of this I have never been comfortable with the charismatic gifts and I’ve only attended a charismatic church service once in my life.  I was, therefore, very surprised when I started to have visions.  But I did have visions – there is no question about it.  Over a period of about seven years, I had many visions.  They occurred when I was praying, and I had no control over them.  Most of them were personal; it seems that our loving heavenly Father just wanted me to understand some things about my own service to him, and he chose to tell me what he wanted through visions.

But the last two visions were about churches.

Before I tell you what I saw in those visions, I need to tell you two things: I was born in southern England and, much later, I migrated to Australia.

OK.

In the first vision, I was standing on the South Downs in southeastern England (The South Downs are a range of high hills.  Don’t ask me why they are called Downs).  I was looking out over England’s “green and pleasant land”.  I could see lots of patchwork fields and lots of villages and small towns.  The villages and towns all had churches in them, and the churches were all exploding.  Roofs were flying off; walls were flying outwards, and steeples were taking off like little rockets.  There was no smoke or flames, and nobody was hurt; the buildings were just flying apart.  Here’s the thing, I could see hundreds of people who were running out of their exploding churches and running to the people who were running out of other churches and embracing each other.

And that was it.

In the second vision, I was looking at an Australian landscape.  It was a flat brown plain with some low hills on the far horizon, so the plain stretched almost as far as the eye could see.  There was absolutely nothing growing on the plain but dotted across the plain were hundreds of reservoirs full of water.  The walls of the reservoirs were made of earth.  The reservoirs were round in shape, maybe 3 meters (10ft) high, and every one of them was full of water.  Thick grass was growing on the top of the walls of the reservoirs, but nothing was growing on the plain.  These reservoirs were churches.  Our loving heavenly Father, in the form of a small man in a rather grubby robe, was going to each reservoir in turn and making holes in it with his hands and kicking holes in it with his feet, and the water that had been held in the reservoirs was flowing out over the plain.

And that was it.

I believe these visions indicate that our loving heavenly Father is going to liberate us, his children, from our denominational differences (the first vision) and our church buildings (both visions), freeing us to serve him in our communities as he has always intended.

I’d like to hear what others think about this.  Please pray, then leave a comment or email me peter@followtheteachingsofjesus.com
